The collection comprises lasting heirlooms representing the South African Football Squad, Bafana Bafana, not only for the 2010 FIFA World Cup, but as its fine arts jewellery 'partner' going forward.
Instrumental in establishing the Football Collection and working closely with SLAM (the JV responsible for the commercialisation and management of all SAFA's [South African Football Association] trademarks) is Sarah-Jane Truter, Jenna Clifford’s Corporate Consultant and Dream Big brand ambassador.
“It was in the latter part of 2008,” Truter explains, “that SLAM approached us asking if we were interested in producing Bafana Bafana memorabilia – or legacies, and told us that we would hold the licence to produce the logo for both individual and corporate pieces. Subsequent to several meetings, the licence agreement was put into place and our Football collection within the Jenna Clifford Heirloom Objet d 'Art collection was born.”
Truter is quick to point out that Jenna Clifford herself is very patriotic and proudly South African. It was with this in mind that they decided to put the Jenna Clifford brand behind supporting South Africa’s national team. “It goes beyond even that,” she says. “We are also supporting the entire event, supporting South Africa in hosting the event and some of our offerings are even getting the ‘corporates’ excited.
“We have taken this a step further,” she continues, “by incorporating the Jenna Clifford Rose on some of the memorabilia we are ensuring that our philanthropic Dream Big initiative and its two children charities also benefit greatly.”
“By incorporating Dream Big,” says Jenna Clifford CEO, Dex Kotze, “we're saying: 'South Africa – Dream Big'. The Jenna Clifford Football Collection represents excellence, dedication, motivation and aspiration – all qualities inherent in successful football players and teams – and, of course, making for wonderful and symbolic World Cup mementos.”
Heirlooms and representation
The items to be found in the Jenna Clifford Football Collection include Bafana Bafana Official Licensed sterling silver cuff links, key rings and bottle decorators (for the top end of the corporate market) as well as Jenna Clifford Football sugar spoons.
SLAM Managing Director, Vivian Casaletti, said that the official Bafana Bafana licensing programme is proud to have Jenna Clifford as one of its official and exclusive suppliers of branded jewellery and high-end gifting products. “The Football collection is a truly inspiring range of unique football and Bafana Bafana inspired pieces that exude the artistic flair of Jenna Clifford. We feel that this range truly encompasses the style and sense of pride and passion that the Bafana Bafana team portrays on the field of play. We are very proud of this range and we are confident that all football loving fans will enjoy it too!”
The company's focus for the six weeks of the World Cup and the remainder of the year is fine jewellery, as portrayed in its latest ad campaign featuring top models Joelle Kayembe and Tansey Coetzee. Jenna Clifford primarily focuses on its inherent art – fine jewellery and is already thinking about the international influx of people buying jewellery. “We want to offer our clients and our associates beautiful and lasting heirlooms so that they can all have symbols of the world cup,” says Truter.
“Our collectables are to be passed on for generations. They are exclusive and special in their symbolism, which is intertwined into their designs. We like to say that they are made with love and in love,” concludes Truter. “The Jenna Clifford Football Collection is master crafted from the finest Antimony pewter – it also has a lifetime guarantee.”
