A Perfect End to New Beginnings
Spectacular, glamorous, a touch above the rest, stylish and in a class of its own are just some of the words one can think of to describe the Women’s Month Event hosted by Mabatho Events and Promotions at Rhapsody’s in Sunnyside, Pretoria. Held on a bright sunny day as winter was beginning to make way for spring, it was a perfect end to the Women’s Month celebration, but also the ushering in of an annual event for Mabatho Events and Promotions. CEO magazine took time out to share the joy, splendour and festivities with men and women who realise the importance of women in the South African socioeconomic space.
Arriving well before the programme was scheduled to start allowed the CEO magazine team that attended the event to get an in-depth understanding of the work that goes into the final stages of preparing such an ‘out of this world’ event as the one held at the end of August 2014. One could hardly
pin down Mapula Digangoane, chief executive officer (CEO) of Mabatho Events and Promotions for a tête-à-tête. When we finally did, she was quick to share that she wanted everything to be perfect for the event, as it was the beginning of an era for Mabatho Events and Promotions. The event will be an annual do for Mabatho Events, although, as it grows, its focus will shift to emphasise not only women, but also the men and women who are helping to fuel South Africa’s entrepreneurial spirit.
“This is not your traditional fashion show, but rather a fashion discussion hosted by a master of ceremonies with an array of guest speakers, fashion question-and-answer sessions, a fashion stall, a nail bar, related beauty products, entertainment in the form of live band performances, food, and networking opportunities for guests,” Digangoane explains. The most notable guest speaker of the day was Esther Letlape, a seasoned executive, an entrepreneur and a passionate mentor at heart. Incidentally, Letlape is Digangoane’s mentor across all facets. Motivational speaker Fairbridge Mitchell was the master of ceremonies and did not disappoint with a dose of inspiration as he directed proceedings. A lucky winner went home with all smiles after winning a R25 000 style-consultant voucher sponsored by Velly Images and Style, which was also a partner for the event.
